Support For Children

Hospice Mississauga is here with support for every person, at every age.

The death of a significant person is one of the most stressful and traumatic life events that a child or youth can experience. Our Help Us Understand Grief (HUUG) program delivers age-appropriate support and education to children and youth living in Mississauga and Brampton.

The HUUG counsellors help facilitate open, honest, and age-appropriate conversations. They encourage children and youth to identify and express feelings and address worries and fears they may have. They invite children and youth to express their hopes and fears while identifying support system to enable healthy coping strategies.

The counsellors work in collaboration with parents, guardians and professionals on communicating with children and youth who are grieving or facing death in age-appropriate ways that align with their developmental level and their circumstances.
