About the Building Project
What is the Hospice Centre?
The Hospice Centre will be Mississauga’s first purpose-built space offering 12 care suites, space for wellness programs, counselling, and community connections.
Where is it being built?
At 2176 Speakman Drive in Mississauga.
When will it be ready?
Construction starts in January 2026. We expect to welcome the first individuals by late 2027.
Why is this important for Mississauga?
Mississauga currently has no hospice centre, yet it should have 7 beds for every 100,000 people. This centre fills a major gap in local health care and completes our continuum of care for those with a palliative or end of life illness.
Funding & Donations
Why do you need donations if the government is helping?
The Province funds only a portion of the cost of the building—about 10% for the building and 50% of yearly operations. The rest of our funding comes from caring donors in the community.
How much do you need to raise?
Thanks to caring donors we have $14,235,000 remaining to raise in funds. The City of Mississauga has provided funding and financing to ensure the success of this important project.
Can I make payments over time?
Yes! We will work with donors to find opportunities and payment schedules that work for both of us.
What fundraising programs are available?
There are many opportunities to get involved. From forms of remembrance like our Leaves of Remembrance for just $1500, to naming a room or space, the opportunities are numerous. Please get in touch with ghill@hospicemississauga.ca to discuss.
Volunteering and Getting Involved
Can I volunteer at the Hospice Centre?
Yes! Opportunities will be posted once the centre is in its operational readiness phase which is anticipated in Spring 2027. Until then please check out the variety of volunteer opportunities here: hospicemississauga.ca/volunteer/
Will the Hospice Centre reflect our diverse community?
Yes. Cultural inclusion is a key focus. This will include spiritual supports and technology to help residents stay connected with their faith or cultural community.
